Don’t let New York City’s heat and humidity stop you from celebrating a fun-filled Christmas in July, all summer-long. Whether you want to break out your roller skates or still want that winter wonderland feeling, there are still plenty of places where you can go throughout the five boroughs. And no matter your budget, you’re sure to find something that’s super fun for everybody. While our last skating article showcased some of the best ice-skating rinks for a fun winter activity, here are four places where you can skate in NYC this summer.

1. Pier 2 Roller Rink

At the edge of Brooklyn Bridge Park, you’ll find this semi-outdoor roller rink right on the water that’s open from April until October. As you skate around with friends, family, or even on your own, you’ll get some incredible views of both the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge. It’s surprisingly cheap too, with a $6 general admission fee and completely free on Mondays and Fridays between 3PM and 6PM. They even have themed nights every Friday, such as 80’s Throwback and Boy Band, complete with a live DJ. And if you want to book a special event for your own Christmas in July celebration, you can do that, too.

2. Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you have to hang up those ice skates. Even in July, locals and tourists alike still flock to the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers — NYC’s most popular indoor rink since its 1969 opening. The space features not one, but two NHL-sized rinks along with plenty of seating, locker rooms, a terrace, and a full food court in the lobby. Along with general skating sessions, It also serves as a space for hockey games, skating competitions, and private lessons. Not to mention there’s lots of spectacular views of the Hudson River, thanks to its large windows. While this is the most expensive entry on our list, it’s well worth it considering everything you’ll get.

 3. Riverbank Skating Rink

Located on Upper Manhattan’s West Side, this covered rink is a year-round attraction at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park. Here, you’ll find ice skating in the winter and roller skating during the summer. Yet no matter when you come here, you’ll get some of the best views of the Hudson and George Washington Bridge. And it’s only $1.50 to get in, along with a $6 skate rental, making it one of the best and most inexpensive ways to have fun with the family. Plus, we know everyone will also love the nearby playgrounds, picnic areas, swimming pools, and carousel.

4. Runway Rink at TWA Hotel

The TWA Hotel is JFK International Airport’s only on-base hotel, having opened in 2019 to give travelers a glimpse of the flying industry’s glory days. And to really drive home the 1960s nostalgia factor, they’ve added a skating rink on the tarmac. You’ll listen to retro tunes and get a good look at “Connie,” the 1958 Lockheed Constellation airplane that’s parked nearby. And the best part is you don’t even have to be a ticket-holding traveler to enjoy it. Not to mention that skate rental is already included in the price of admission. Also, be sure to pay Connie a visit if you come with friends, as she’s been converted into a fancy cocktail bar.
