Candace Cameron Bure is returning for yet another Great American Christmas this year. The Fuller House star is set to play the lead in My Christmas Hero near the end of 2023. This all comes after a very successful first holiday season over at her new network. According to a recent GAC poll, Cameron Bure’s movie A Christmas… Present was the top favorite among fans in 2022. And this year, she’s using her new film to give a special holiday salute to our current and former troops.
U.S. Army reservist and orthopedic physician, Nicole Ramsey (Cameron Bure) is dedicated to serving military service members and their families at the Joint Military Base in Lacey, Washington, home of I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing. This Christmas, with the help of many dedicated heroes, Dr. Ramsey is on a mission to honor a special fallen soldier and bring healing to her own family.
In an announcement with Deadline, Cameron Bure described the joy and excitement of paying tribute to our service members this holiday.
“We are proud to tell a story that honors our U.S. veterans this Christmas season. From WW2 to present day veterans, we shine the spotlight on their heroic work as well as aftercare needs. We have a talented cast and crew and are thrilled to bring it to our Great American Family audience.”
GAC Media signed a deal with Cameron Bure in the spring of 2022 to develop, produce, and star in their original films and TV shows. Aside from A Christmas… Present, she also served as executive producer for Christmas on Candy Cane Lane. All films are created in partnership with her own production company, Candy Rock Entertainment.
My Christmas Hero is produced by Veteran Productions along with Candy Rock Entertainment and Syrup Studios. Jim Head (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries) wrote the fully-original screenplay, while Martin Wood (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, When Calls the Heart) is set to direct. While there’s no word yet on the rest of the cast, we’re sure it will include many other network favorites.
Great American Christmas will return this October to Great American Family with a larger lineup than ever. And just like last year, expect movie premiers every Saturday and Sunday, along with 24/7 holiday films throughout the end of 2023.
