It’s going to be a Full House at Great American Family this Christmas!
We all know Candace Cameron Bure just as much for her Hallmark Channel films as we do her role as D.J. Tanner. Yet, like many of the network’s biggest stars, she made the switch over to GAC Media / Great American Family earlier this year. Her very first Christmas movies for her new home channel has been announced and based on recent news, it looks like she’s taking on even more roles behind the scenes.
Candace Cameron Bure Leaves Hallmark
Until recently, Bure hasn’t said much about her split with Hallmark after a 14-year contract. Yet, when she sat down with Variety for an interview, she stated that it was all just a matter of business, and that Great American Family CEO Bill Abbott — formerly the head of Hallmark Channel — has been great to her over the years.
“The truth is I’ve been under contract with Hallmark for a very, very long time. And those have been absolutely wonderful. It just so happened that my contract was expiring when Great American Family started up. So we did not start having those discussions until we were well into negotiations with Hallmark Channel for renewing. And as every business person knows, you’ve got to do what’s right for contracts. It didn’t work out with Hallmark and so we started talking to Bill.”Candace Cameron Bure
She also credits Abbott with helping her revive her career after a long hiatus from acting, and that their relationship made the transition easy. And since there’s no set end date on her new contract, it looks like she’s in this one for the long-haul.
Candace Cameron Bure Has A Christmas… Present for GAC Media
In A Christmas… Present, Bure stars as Maggie Lawson, a busy mom and real estate agent who can’t seem to slow down. Yet after her sister-in-law passes away, she decides to take her family to visit her widowed brother and his daughter for Christmas. And through a series of events, she learns to fully embrace the holidays and their true meaning. While we don’t know much about the rest of the cast, we can say that Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Marc Blucas will co-star as Maggie’s husband, Eric.
This is the latest project for Bure’s own production company, Candy Rock Entertainment — a collaboration between her and Redrock Entertainment’s Jeffrey Brooks, Ford Englerth, and actor Gerald Webb. Rick Garman served as screenwriter while TV movie regular Lesley Demetriades directs. In a recent statement from Great American Family, Bure said of her upcoming film:
“A Christmas … Present is about slowing down enough to recognize what’s right in front of our eyes. The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season will arrive before we know it but it’s through the quiet moments that we hear God speak to us, directing our path to what’s most important.”Candace Cameron Bure
This heartwarming new movie is filming in Tulsa, OK and is all set to premiere in November. It seems like the perfect film to get us in the spirit while prepping for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
A Full House for the Holidays at Great American Family
Along with her upcoming lead role, Bure is also producing another film for this year’s Great American Christmas celebration. And it looks like she’s bringing her old TV family with her on this new venture based on a recent Instagram photo showing her posing happily with her Full House co-stars Andrea Barber and Lori Laughlin, along with fellow ex-Hallmark veteran, Jen Lilley. While this picture may have just been some behind the scenes fun at a network publicity shoot, Candace Cameron Bure actually did announce another Great American Family Christmas movie in which she will be reuniting with one of her former cast members.
Candace Cameron Bure Presents: Christmas on Candy Cane Lane is set to star Andrea Barber, in her holiday movie debut, and as the title suggest, will be produced by Candace Cameron Bure. The film is written by Teena Booth and based on the holiday novel by Sheila Roberts. In the film, Ivy Donaldson (Andrea Barber) struggles to fill the shoes of her late mother, affectionately known in her town as the Christmas Maven, while a series of comical events brings the entire town together for the holidays.
Great American Christmas 2022 officially kicks off on October 21, 2022. After the success of their Christmas in July marathon, we can’t wait to see all the new films coming to Great American Family this holiday season.
