We now have ‘so much more’ to look forward to this Christmas season. Grammy-winning rock band Switchfoot announced their first ever holiday album. Simply titled ‘this is our Christmas album,’ its 10 tracks are a wonderfully festive mix of holiday classics and brand-new original songs. And, according to the band, the tone is inspired by everyone from the Beach Boys to Black Flag.
So if you’re looking for a cheery, nostalgic holiday album with a California twist, then 'this is our Christmas album' may be your go-to Christmas album for this coming season.
‘this is our Christmas album’
According to frontman Jon Foreman, this album has been years in the making. And with the holidays stirring up every kind of emotion for millions of people, it was easy for the band to draw inspiration.
“Christmas is an emotional treasure chest for a songwriter to pull from. It’s a season stretched tight with contradictions: celebrating the free gifts of love and grace with an outburst of materialist capitalist consumption. An emotional roller coaster of family and friends, hopes and scars- bringing out the worst and the best in all of us.”

California Christmas with Switchfoot
Founded in 1996, San Diego-based Switchfoot officially broke into the mainstream in 2003 with the release of their fourth album, The Beautiful Letdown. It quickly reached double platinum thanks to their hit singles ‘Meant to Live’ and ‘Dare You to Move.’ Since then, they’ve sold 10 million records worldwide and performed live in over 40 countries. And in 2011, their seventh release Hello Hurricane earned them a Grammy Award for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album. In addition, they’ve also raised millions of dollars through their BRO-AM Foundation to help kids in their community.
As for their latest venture, ‘this is our Christmas album’ is all set for release on November 4th, 2022. And based on what we know, it will be the perfect thing to listen to for a fun, and more laid back, Christmas.
